Awarded as the champion through the NBA-sanctioned voting by the readers of the Boxing Blade, a Minneapolis weekly newspaper; may not be officially recognized by NYSAC; Paul Doyle also claims the title in NY in 23-06 (Times Union, Brooklyn, NY, 23-06-06) but loses to Willie Harmon on 24-04-08 in New York, NY (see below); Mitchell may temporarily vacate the title in 25 when he outgrows the weight class (The Standard Union, Brooklyn, NY, 25-08-21).
Willie Harmon # 1925-08-14 Milwaukee, WI, USA
Defeats Mitchell and claims the title (Pittsburgh Gazette Times, 25-09-22); has also defeated title claimant Paul Doyle on 24-04-08 in New York, NY (see above); loses to Jack Zivic on 25-09-21 in Bronx, NY, USA in the scheduled title defense (Pittsburgh Gazette Times, 25-09-22) or decision match for the title vacated by Mitchell (The Standard Union, Brooklyn, NY, 25-08-21) which becomes a non-title bout when both competitors fail to make the weight.

A double title match with the lightweight champion; Berg continues to claim the title because of the lightweight limit in the match rather than the junior welterweight limit (The Brooklyn Daily Times, 31-08-03); Berg again loses to Canzoneri on 31-09-10 in New York, NY, USA but still continues to claim the title with the support of The Ring magazine (United Press, 32-12-11).

Defeats Willie Joyce and is recogniezd by NYSAC and NBA (Boston Herald, 46-04-29); vacates on 46-11-05; division inactive until 59.
Carlos Ortiz 1959-06-12 New York, NY, USA
Defeats Kenny Lane when the title is revived "after 13 years" (Daily News, New York, NY, 59-06-13).
